Hi Takashi, I tried out yesterdays tarball hg20080207 to confirm DSP2000 Midi stuff before pointing another DSP2000 user to it. [alsa-devel] new driver - some initial problems

I am new to alsa development, but I am trying to write a alsa capture driver for a DAC. The driver is based on at73c213 since it will be running on AVR32 and using the SSC bus. The driver is running on a NGW100 card and I am using buildroot provided by Atmel. The alsa version is 1.0.14a and the kernel is 2.6.23. The DAC is not using any configuration bus so I have switched to using platform_* functions instead of dev/spi (grabbed from snd-dummy). I have also been taking some capture pieces from the snd-dummy driver. I am now stuck with two problems: 1) When using arecord -L, I only get the "null" device 2) When I try to use arecord to do a recording I get "arecord: set_params:1039: unable to install sw params:". I get the same message when trying to use the snd-dummy driver, even though this driver also has PCM device. Any hints on how to proceed? I can post the driver source if that is interesting. Greetings, I recently bought an Edirol UA1-EX. While looking at the Matrix I saw that you need help testing the device. I can devote some time in testing in development. Although I am not new to linux I'm new to the alsa development process. I would very much appreciate if you point me to some starter's documentation or anything that will help. Hi, I really want pulseaudio badly and since it doesn't work very good with OSS output, I decided to switch to ALSA. However, I'm running into some problems with ALSA. Hey hackers, While developing pyalsa sequencer API, I found that sometimes 0 is used instead of a #defined value or constant. In my opinion, given that the alsa API is opaque (hides internal structure and provides methods for accessing them), we should define those missing "constants" for being consistent. So far I found: SND_SEQ_BLOCK 0 (blocking mode) SND_SEQ_PORT_CAP_NONE (the port defines no access capabilites) BTW, Thanks Jaroslav for putting my code; I will send 3rd patch for covering the missing items of the python API sequencer when I'll finish it. Hi, how about creating branches for HG trees for some stable trees? This will make the maintenance much easier. What I have in my mind are branches for: - Kernel stable tree (2.6.xx.y) - Kernel head tree for push - ALSA stable releases We'd need to define a naming rule if we have branches. So far, v*.*.* tag is used for ALSA versions, and it can be used for the branch, too. But having the same name between the tag and the branch may be confusing. We can name the branch as "v1.0.16.x" or "v1.0.16-branch", for example. Also, for the kernel version to track, we'd need a different prefix, too, such as "kernel-2.6.25". The workflow with branches is pretty simple. % hg branch default % hg up -rv1.0.16 % hg branch v1.0.16-branch % some patch work % hg commit % hg branches v1.0.16-branch 5828:71ddf13b7a2e default 5829:950e43bff743 The resultant multiple heads can be pushed via "push -f". I hope this subject wasn't previously discussed, as I couldn't find a trace ... The basic question is : why can't the PXA27x reset the AC97 bus in front of an wm9713 ? And more precisely, I'd like to know : - are there any references to this bug (Intel note, mailing list ref, ...) - is it a hardware bug on PXA27x side ? - is it a hardware bug on wm9713 side ? - is there a known generic workaround (assuming GPIO113 is connected to wm9713 reset line is not generic for me) ? - is there a known platform where this bug does not happen ? -- Robert
