Hi, I am trying to compile ALSA 1.0.14 and have compiled it but there are problems. How do you find out which ALSA driver is associated with a chipset? The chipset is ALC888, but when I run the ./configure script what do I pass in to the '--with-cards' parameter? I have compiled with 'hda-intel' but I dont think this correct? Can you help?

[alsa-devel] Virtual Surround, where to start

Hello everyone. I am a programmer but I do not have experience with ALSA. I would like to see if I can add software support for the SRS and other features of my M-Audio Revolution 7.1 card. How could I best start on this task? I am assuming that the card has some hardware acceleration for the SRS algorithms that I will need to access. thanks, colin

hi, i've just installed debian unstable on an hp 2386ea. This is the sound card it uses: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company Unknown device 30b2 The driver is snd-hda-intel and everything loads fine. Alsamixer does the job equally well. However, no actual sound is produced. It uses the Conexant Venice (cx20549) codec. Nothing special in dmesg. I tried loading the kernel with noacpi, but no changes. I attach alsa-info.txt. Any clues ? Hi, I have the above referenced sound card. It is running on the latest version of CCRMA x86. Jack shows only stereo. How do I configure so that I can run 5 channels. I haven't tried yet to look for directions on line. If someone could provide me with a URL to the most up-to-date instructions I would be willing to give it a try. Thanks. John

There is a user community of significant size hanging on your next point release. Users of recent ThinkPads, especially X61 and T61s. ALSA 1.0.14 doesn't cut it for the AD1984 Intel sound card on these machines; your head revision, however, does. This is a nudge to your release manager. Hi, I have a HP BPC D7000 machine and run fedora6 + alsa-1.0.14 on it. I found that when I used the front mic,I needed to choose the "Input source " as "Line" to record. Then I read the source code of alsa-1.0.14 and alsa-hg-20080828. I found that the capture_source items is wrong. I tried to fix and test them. It works well on my machine. Hi, How about considering about the 1.0.15-rc1 release? People tend to use still the old 1.0.14 release simply because it's THE last release. I'm too tired of answering "try HG version, the bug must have been fixed." We have already tons of changes, especially in the ALSA kernel/driver tree about 25,000 lines changes. That's high enough.
