[alsa-devel] multi plugin and start_threshold = -1

I: core-util.c: Successfully enabled SCHED_RR scheduling for thread, with
priority 5.
I: alsa-sink.c: Starting playback.
I: (alsa-lib)pcm_hw.c: SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_START failed (-77)
I: (alsa-lib)pcm_hw.c: PCM state = RUNNING

any limitation to use -1 as  start_thershold ?

why  SNDRV_PCM_IOCTL_START failed (-77) only occur with PA server when
using "multi" plugin of surround40 of ca0106 ?
other application (e.g. aplay , speaker-test and mplayer  seem work fine
