[alsa-devel] Acer Aspire 6920 (hda ALC889): no headphone switching or capture

Hello,

I have an Acer Aspire 6920 (not 6920g; ALC889/ICH8) on which I got
sound output to work a while back (by upgrading to custom 2.6.26
kernel), with a couple problems:

 - When speakers/headphones are plugged into headphone jack, sound
comes out both headphone jack and laptop speakers simultaneously. I
have used hda-verb to see if I could switch the laptop speakers off:
     /usr/bin/hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x15 SET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL
0x00  (turns off headphones)
     /usr/bin/hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x15 SET_PIN_WIDGET_CONTROL
0x40  (turns on headphones/laptop speakers stay on)

0xc0  (supposedly some 'headphone mode', just seems to make the jack
louder, laptop speakers still on)

(mutes all)
     /usr/bin/hda-verb /dev/snd/hwC0D0 0x0c SET_AMP_GAIN_MUTE 0x7000
(unmutes all)
The headphone switch in mixer does nothing.  The Front switch in
alsamixer mutes/unmutes all.

Looking at patch_realtek.c, it seems all the alc883_acer_aspire_* code
assumes that headphones are node 0x14 and laptop speakers are
0x15/0x16, which doesn't seem like the case here because everything
seems to be at the whim of 0x15.  Is there a verb I'm missing, should
I try a different model parameter, or some other way of switching off
the laptop speakers that isn't implemented by the driver?

- I have no working capture devices.  None of the built-in mic, mic
jack, or line-in jack work.  Since the amp-ins on 0x0b-0x0f all appear
to be muted, I wonder if that has something to do with it, but I can't
seem to find a verb to unmute them.

I have hda-verb installed, and got the ALC889 Datasheet:
ftp://202.65.194.211/pc/audio/ALC889_DataSheet_1.0.pdf , but I don't
quite understand how to pass the verb parameters listed there on the
command line.  Hopefully the information I was able to provide isn't
unhelpful, and if you need more information, please request.
